Garment Care
The single most important thing you can do to lessen your clothes’ footprint is to use them for longer. Up to 25% of a garment’s environmental footprint happens after we buy it (source: wrap.org). That means the way we care for our clothes has a big impact on our planet. The best cared for garments–those that are passed on for generations – are the ultimate form of fashion luxury, if you ask us.
Here are some easy tips:
Wash less, air dry more.
Spot-clean stains.
Don’t wash jeans too often. Try refreshing hacks instead, like airing them or putting them into the freezer.
If you need to wash your jeans, wash inside out.
Wash on lower temperatures to save energy and don’t use too much detergent.
Avoid dry cleaning and tumble drying when you can.
Remember to zip up your garments before washing to avoid damage.
Use washing bags to protect your garments.
Once you’re done with a garment, recycle it. Give it to a friend or a charity, resell it or leave it at a Weekday store and we will recycle it for you… and give you 10% off your next purchase.
